Product Data
The PHILIPS 120 cm 36W T8 G13 UVC Disinfection Ultraviolet Tube is a special tube that produces light in the wavelength of ultraviolet rays. All of its light output is concentrated in the 253 nanometres, which is known as the UV-C band. The short-wave UV-C ultraviolet light breaks down and disrupts cellular DNA and consequently has a strong germicidal action that kills or inactivates all kinds of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other germs. According to this study in nature magazine: When it is shown in a test report that an ultraviolet lamp kills bacteria, we can consequently state that it also kills viruses because their cell wall is much weaker.
Characteristics of the PHILIPS 120 cm 36W T8 G13 UVC Disinfection Ultraviolet Tube
This product needs an electronic ballast to provide the tube with the necessary peak voltage to start. As these tubes disrupt cellular DNA, it is recommended that the product is switched on using presence detectors or timers. For example, the tube is installed in a waiting room or changing room. As soon as a person enters the room, the tube should be switched off to avoid damaging the person's skin and eyes.
Applications of the PHILIPS 120 cm 36W T8 G13 UVC Disinfection Ultraviolet Tube
UVC tubes are used to disinfect and sterilise laboratories, surfaces in hospitals, sanitary instruments, masks, bacteriological investigations, pharmaceutical processes, air conditioning systems and cold rooms.
Another major field of application is the disinfection of drinking water, waste water, purification of swimming pools, fountains and ponds as it prevents the formation of algae. It could also be used to disinfect waiting rooms, transit areas, public toilets, etc. To avoid exposing people to this type of light, we recommend the installation of presence detectors and timers that you will find in the accessories section.
WARNING!
These luminaires are included in risk Group 3 and should therefore always be handled and used with UVC ultraviolet protection goggles. Exposure to ultraviolet light causes severe eye and skin damage.
As it is a vapour tube, it requires an external starter or electronic ballast.
