What aspects to take into account when buying LED floodlights to light a football field?

The lumens needed to light a football field depend on the characteristics of the field. Generally, about 1,000 lm per square meter are needed.

Based on this criteria, the lighting of a football field must meet the requirements we are going to share with you in the following table.

But, before we go any further, we want to clarify that 1 lux refers to the number of lumens (lm) required per m2.

  • FIFA: For televised events, the number of lux must be higher than 1,500, with a uniformity of 0.7 and the luminaires must not cast shadows.
  • Class I: For national events, the number of lux must be higher than 500, with a uniformity of 0.7 and the luminaires must not cast shadows.
  • Class II: For regional events, the number of lux must be greater than 200, with a uniformity of 0.6 and must have at least 6 light poles.
  • Class III: For recreational events, the number of lux must be higher than 75, with a uniformity of 0.5 and must have at least 4 light poles.
