What do you need to consider before installing an LED downlight?

Don't overlook the following before installing an LED downlight:

1. Think carefully about what you need before choosing from the wide variety of sizes, powers, finishes and designs.
2. If you are going to do the installation yourself, make sure you have the necessary equipment to carry it out: ladder, tape measure, flat-blade screwdriver, scissors, drill (circle cutter), wire stripper, etc.
3. Some downlights only require the wires to be connected, which makes installation much easier. To connect the wires from the Driver to the terminal strip you will need a flat-blade screwdriver.
4. If you have to make a hole from scratch - or increase its diameter - you will have to measure well beforehand and use the circle cutter to achieve a uniform and perfectly measured finish.
5. To reduce the length of the cable you will need to use a wire stripper.

Can LED downlights be dimmed?

The answer is that it depends on the model. In LED downlights without an integrated driver, the luminous flux can be controlled by dimmers.

The new decoration trends demand as an extra value the possibility to regulate the intensity of the different lighting devices and LED downlights are no exception.

To convert those that are not dimmable to dimmable, it is necessary to resort to small modifications with accessories that are also available from Ledkia

The adaptation is as simple as replacing the driver or non-dimmable power supply of the LED downlight with one that can be dimmed, taking advantage of the fact that they have the same type of connector. The dimmable driver allows you to vary the voltage with which the LEDs are powered by adjusting the amount of light they emit.
